Worldmind School Long-Term Substitute Teacher

Long-Term Substitute Teacher

Worldmind School’s Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for associative planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum developed by Worldmind Nature Immersion School. The Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for general supervision and management of a group of children. The teacher reports to the Head of School.

Qualifications:

The person selected for this position must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree in one of the following:

  • Psychology 

  • Elementary Education 

  • Environmental Education

  • Special Education 

  • Have experience in the field of environmental education

  • Have experience with or knowledge of working with children with special needs

  • Have experience or knowledge of working with children outdoors

  • Have a non-remarkable background check

  • Commit to ongoing professional development

  • Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs

Responsibilities:

  • Treat children, staff, and parents with dignity and respect

  • Plan and prepare the learning environment, preparing a session planning sheet each week, and prepare needed materials and supplies through collaboration and contribution

  • Provide appropriate supervision of all participants

  • Perform general housekeeping tasks

  • Attend staff orientation and all staff meetings

  • Participate in the required 24 hours of professional development per school year

  • Assist with or attend school sponsored events

  • Demonstrate caring about children within and beyond the classroom

  • Develop appropriate relationships with parents

  • Communicate observation results to parents during parent meetings  

  • Collaborate as a team player with other staff and administrators

  • Help meet the needs of individual children with respect for their interests, special needs, talents, and individual style of learning

  • Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans

  • Meet all deadlines set by director

  • Perform other support tasks when called upon to ensure smooth school operations

  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations and accreditation standard

Job Type:

  • 6 weeks February 5, 2024 through March 15, 2024 with the possibility of full-time or part-time employment after the 6 weeks. 

Job Location:

  • Denver, CO

Benefits:

  • Hourly $24-26 an hour

Worldmind School Summer Camp Lead Teacher: Ages 6-8

  • Participate in the required 24 hours of professional development per school year
